Farewell Flybe 1979-2020

In the early hours of this morning (Thursday 5th March 2020) UK airline Flybe entered administration and ceased operations after failing to secure vital funding needed to continue trading.

The Exeter based airline, has been operating for over 41 years with a fleet size of 72 aircraft. Flybe has served a massive role in regional connectivity for the UK, connecting population and cities creating vital economic links, operating to over 12 UK airports and 56 worldwide destinations.

Their collapse comes at a difficult time in the industry with many airlines suffering from the economic impact of the coronavirus, in addition to airlines still recovering from the poor 2019 summer season.

It is a true shock and major loss to the industry, and our heartfelt sympathies and support go to the staff at Flybe at this difficult time and we wish them all the best in finding alternative employment.

On a personal level, we have had numerous flights with Flybe in the last number of years, and have always been impressed with their excellent service and product. The loss is not just significant at our home airport of Manchester, where Flybe will be sorely missed after the integral part they played here but also at many other UK airports.
